Trusts are placed in league tables, which are aimed at enhancing public accountability for performance and to check how well different parts of the NHS are doing. The goal is to make sure NHS services provide safe, high-quality care for everyone and to support improvement where needed.
Anyone can explore the NOF framework, which shows how NHS trusts compare with each other across England on both individual measurements and at an overall level. Please take a look by following this link. Overall, the Trust remains in segment 3, out of 4, although we have improved from 96th place to 80th (out of 134).
In a message to colleagues, Brendan Brown, Chief Executive has said: “Well done to everyone who has contributed to this improvement. There isn’t a simple reason for this – there is a range of statistics in the background that contribute to the overall rating, but this speaks to our collective commitment that we continue doing what we do best – doing the right thing, for the right reason, to get the right result for our patients and their families.
“Thank you to everyone across the Trust for the care you continue to deliver, and the work across all of our departments you continue to do, as it really is making a difference.”
Positively, the proportion of patients waiting longer than 52 weeks and the proportion of patients waiting less than 18 weeks have both improved.
The proportion of urgent cancer referrals to receive a definitive diagnosis within 4 weeks, proportion of patients treated for cancer within 62 days of referral, percentage of patients managed in under 4 hours in our Emergency Departments, and percentage of patients spending over 12 hours in our Emergency Departments have all also moved in the right direction.
It is important that while improvements are marked, the Trust remains focused on our challenges. There are areas where we know we need to improve and do better by our patients. The placing also reflects our financial position: any Trust in deficit can’t be rated higher than segment 3.
