Leeds Children’s Hospital is supported by a number of amazing charities and we couldn’t do what we do without them. Leeds Hospitals Charity is the charity of Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust and we are one of eight areas they support in across the Trust. You can show your support for Leeds Children’s Hospital, specific wards and projects through Leeds Hospitals Charity. Find out more about Leeds Hospitals Charity and our other charities below.
Leeds Hospitals Charity
Our NHS staff already do an incredible job caring for patients – Leeds Hospitals Charity supports Leeds Children’s Hospital to help make this exceptional healthcare even better.
Through the generous donations of their supporters, they have funded life-saving equipment, treatments and research into rare diseases, and help to bring hope, happiness and home comforts to every bedside.
In the last year alone, they awarded over £1 million specifically for projects to enhance the care and experience of patients at the Leeds Children’s Hospital. From ground-breaking research to specialist play staff, Christmas gifts, to innovative diagnostic technologies – the projects they support are all focused on enhancing the care and treatment of paediatric patients in Leeds.
Donations to the charity make a real difference in supporting poorly babies, children and their families, which helps Leeds Children’s Hospital deliver the best outcomes for children and young people.

Candlelighters Trust
Candlelighters Trust supports children with cancer across Yorkshire who receive treatment at Leeds Children’s Hospital, contributing to its recognition as a centre of excellence.
Using generous donations from individuals, businesses, trusts, and foundations, Candlelighters provides emotional, practical, and financial support to the families of children with cancer, from the point of diagnosis and for as long as is needed.
Candlelighters funds numerous roles at the hospital on the paediatric oncology wards, including a team of Family Support Workers, providing front-line support to families. This is in addition to funding support for families out in communities across the region and vital research to improve the lives and outcomes for children with cancer.
Eckersley House
Eckersley House is one of The Sick Children’s Trust’s ‘Homes from Home’. Eckersley House gives families with a seriously ill child being treated at Leeds Children’s Hospital a comfortable place to stay, just around the corner from Leeds General Infirmary, where most children’s wards are located. We also offer a friendly ear, for families in need.
Hospital can be a lonely and scary place for anyone, especially a child. Providing families with somewhere to stay together just minutes from the hospital means that they can be by their sick child’s side.
By supporting The Sick Children’s Trust you can make sure these families have one less thing to worry about.
Millie Wright Children’s Charity
The Millie Wright Children’s Charity recognises the needs of long-stay families, often caring for a child with a life threatening or medically complex condition.
Since being registered with The Charities Commission in May 2022, The Millie Wright Children’s Charity is growing quickly and in the coming months expects to employ dedicated Family Support Workers and extend its range of services to families facing extraordinary challenges.
