Abdominal Medicine & Surgery

  • Colorectal Surgery Unit

    The John Goligher Colorectal Surgery Unit is one of the largest centres for Colorectal surgery in Europe. It is a major referral centre for diseases of the small and large bowel, the rectum and anus.

  • Endoscopy

    We offer the broadest range of endoscopic procedures of the gastrointestinal tract.

  • Inflammatory Bowel Disease service

    We offer two dedicated IBD (Tuesdays and Fridays) clinics at St James's University Hospital. These clinics are all consultant led and attended by specialist IBD nurses and dietitians.

  • Kidney (renal) transplantation

    Kidney (Renal) transplants have been carried out at St. James's University Hospital since 1967. To date more than 3,000 transplants have taken place.

  • Liver unit

    The Liver Unit is based at St James’s University Hospital and is one of the largest in the UK.

  • Pancreas unit

    Leeds Pancreas Unit offers a wide range of intervention, surgery and specialist advice to our patients.

    This team provides care and support for people who: Have had cancer or any other condition treated by a cancer specialist during childhood or as a young adult Have had a non-cancerous illness which required a bone marrow transplant during childhood or as a young adult And have completed their treatment

  • Leeds Cancer Centre

    Leeds Cancer Centre diagnoses and treats cancer for the people of Leeds and the Yorkshire region.

  • Mesothelioma

  • Neuroendocrine Cancers

  • Prostate cancer

    Information and support resources for those affected by Prostate Cancer.

  • Vulval cancer

    Vulval cancer can take many years to develop. It usually starts with pre-cancerous cells that change slowly over several years into cancerous cells. As with other cancers, it’s easier to treat and cure if it’s diagnosed at an early stage.

    Adult Hand Surgery and Rehabilitation services is based at the Leeds General Infirmary The Hand Unit ward L46 and is one of the largest and most highly respected units in the UK.

    The Leeds Care Record is a read only secure electronic health and social care patient record system.

  • Pharmacy Services

    We support our patients with their medicines, ensuring these are available before they are needed.

  • Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery

    Our Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery team care for adults and children with many different conditions.

  • Podiatry Department

    Podiatry offers a wide range of lower limb, foot and ankle assessment, diagnosis, treatment and holistic health.

  • Pre-operative Assessment

    Information about your assessment prior to having an operation with us.

  • Speech and Language Therapy

    We offer a wide range of specialist in-patient and outpatient services, from acute care to long term rehabilitation. These services are across Leeds General Infirmary, St James’ University Hospital and Chapel Allerton Hospital.
