The nursery provides exceptional care and education to children aged 3 months to 5 years. The ethos of the nursery is based around learning through play principles. The setting takes pride in working closely with families to forge strong partnerships from the onset. This enables the caring staff team to tailor care and activities to meet children’s diverse and individual needs.
The nursery supports a number of children who speak English as an additional language, as well as those with Special Educational Needs.
The nursery strongly believes in supporting all children in their developmental journey, wherever that may take them. Children are supported by a key person who forms a strong attachment with each child to ensure they can be nurtured in a familiar and responsive learning environment and that they foster a sense of belonging. Staff are sensitive and response to children’s needs feelings and interests, as well as being supportive of children’s own efforts and independence, setting consistent and clear boundaries.
Woodland Room
The woodland room caters for children between the age of 3 months and 2 years. It provides a homely environment where babies and toddlers can thrive through exploratory play with heuristic materials, enjoy the textures of various messy activities and enjoy cuddles and stories with familiar key carers. The room provides and number of places and spaces for children to develop and extend their emerging skills, whilst professional and well qualified staff observes and plan to meet children’s needs and to extend their learning journey.
The outdoor environment supports children sensory development through providing a range of textures and smells, as well supporting their physical development and large motor skills. Parents are actively encouraged to contribute to their child’s learning and development whilst at nursery through daily conversations with key carers, to ensure each child is having all their needs met.
Forest Room
The forest room caters for children between the ages of 2 years and 5 years. We provide a range of stimulating, challenging and exciting activities and experiences that meet all children’s needs. Children’s learning and development is carefully planned for by skilled professionals who understand every Childs individual needs and have the skills to be able to extend and explore your child s learning, with knowledge and skills underpinned by the Early Years Foundation Stage. These experiences help children to become competent and confident learners which encourage them to develop life long skills.
As part of your Childs development in nursery we encourage all parents to have a very active part in nursery life. This is done though asking for your opinions and views on a range of topics, including activities and experiences for the children, as well as how you like to be involved in your Childs learning and how we can work in partnership together to support your child. Children learn and develop well in enabling environments, in which their experiences respond to their individual needs and there is a strong partnership between practitioners and parents and carers.
Outdoor Play
Each of our play rooms has direct access to an outside play area, and this is provided daily for the children on a free flowing basis. This allows children to explore at their own pace, using a variety of experiences from digging, climbing, running and exploring our sensory area. The Outdoor environment has recently being developed to incorporate a sensory area in which children can explore a range of different sensory experiences as well as using our outdoor musical instruments and exploring with weaving. We encourage children to develop a range of skills within the outdoor environment including planting seeds, growing vegetables and caring for our nursery animals. By providing an enabling environment for all children we are offering stimulating resources that are relevant to all children’s cultures and communities. We provide rich learning opportunities through play and playful teaching which supports children in taking risks and exploring.
