Training & Access to POCT Equipment
To maintain the highest standards of patient care and data integrity, only trained staff are authorised to use POCT devices.
Mandatory Training Requirements
Before using any POCT equipment, staff must complete documented training provided by the POCT team or an authorised departmental key trainer. This ensures proper analyser usage and accurate test results.
- Access is granted only after training is completed.
- Staff will use the barcode on their Trust ID badge to log in to devices.
Training Validity & Refresher
- All device training is valid for 2 years.
- After this period, a refresher session is mandatory to maintain competency.
- Some analysers will issue a login warning when your training is nearing expiry.
Password and Data Protection Policies
IMPORTANT: Password sharing is strictly prohibited.
It violates the Trust Policy and Data Protection Policy.
Sharing login credentials breaks Principle 7 of the Data Protection Act (1998) and is considered unauthorised processing, which is unlawful under Section 55 of the Act.
All staff must complete mandatory Information Governance (IG) training and understand the legal responsibilities involved in handling patient data and system access.
