Step 1 – Application
- Complete the application form for new POCT equipment
- Ensure the form is hand signed by both a Lead Clinician and the Ward Manager
Step 2 – Committee Review
The POCT Committee will review your application. Discussion will focus on:
- Clinical benefits
- Current Trust provision
- Quality assurance requirements
- Device specifications and IT compatibility
- Financial implications
Step 3 – Outcome
- The POCT Committee will inform your department of the decision
- You will be notified whether your application has been approved or unsuccessful
Step 4 – Implementation
- If approved, the application requires MMM (monthly management meeting financial) approval
- Once signed off, the analyser will be installed on the ward
- Training will be provided for staff using the equipment
