The Urology Nurse Specialist Team
The team has expertise and experience in assisting with patients’ and carers’ concerns including:
- Information about the disease or illness, investigations, treatments and follow up;
- Advice about any symptoms;
- Support for patients, relatives and carers;
- Referral to the community nursing teams, such as the District Nurses;
- Referral to other professionals who can offer specialist advice such as benefits, social services or complimentary therapies.

Support groups
Leeds Prostate Cancer Support Group (LPCSG)
Leeds PCSG is a group made up of men, wives, partners and family members who have been affected by or are living with cancer. The group is designed to provide information to those who have been affected by a prostate cancer diagnosis and help take the fear out of prostate cancer through discussions and sharing experiences.

Prostate Cancer UK is the UK’s largest men’s health charity. It provides a range of information and support for men, their families and carers such as emotional support and diet and exercise support. They also have a helpline managed by specialist nurses.

Macmillan Cancer Support improves the lives of people affected by cancer. It provides practical, medical and financial support and push for better cancer care. It provides booklets on cancer and treatments and runs helplines providing cancer information and benefits advice as well as an interactive online community forum.

Maggie’s has drop-in centres located around the country where practical, emotional and social support is offered to people with cancer and their families and friends. The Maggie’s Online Centre, allows people to communicate and share experiences with other people who have been affected by cancer.
