Important information
Please note that gynaecology patients are currently being treated on Ward J23. If you are coming into hospital for surgery you will be given instructions which explain where to arrive.
You may be admitted to our ward for treatment or surgery. Some patients are treated at our Gynaecology Acute Treatment Unit which is located on J24a.
If you are coming into hospital for elective surgery, we have included some information below to help you plan for coming into hospital.
Preparing for surgery
Try to eat a healthy balanced diet with plenty of fruit and vegetables so that you have the nutrients you need to support your recovery.
Before you come into hospital for your operation, try to organise things ready for when you come home. If you have a freezer, stock it with easy to prepare food.
We strongly advise that you stop smoking before your operation. The longer you are smoke free before your operation, the better. Smoking can increase the risk of complications and a slower recovery and longer stay in hospital.
Please see our Shape Up 4 Surgery website for more advice.
