Biochemical Genetics

Biochemical Genetics provides a laboratory service for the diagnosis and monitoring of inborn errors of metabolism. Biochemical Genetics is a sub division of the Department of Specialist Laboratory Medicine, Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust. Information on the tests we provide (including sample requirements) can be found on Tests and Tubes.

For investigation of inherited metabolic disorders, a useful set of investigation guidelines can be downloaded from the website of the MetBioNet at www.metbio.net.

Additionally emergency guidelines for the management and investigation of certain inherited metabolic disorders can be found on the website of the British Inherited Metabolic Diseases Group (BIMDG) at www.bimdg.org.uk

Biochemical Genetics laboratory is open from 08.30 to 17.00 Monday to Friday.

There is no formal commitment to provide an analytical service outside opening hours, but this may be possible following prior discussion with the contacts listed below. If you have an urgent request or enquiry please contact the laboratory on 0113 2064256.
