Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust has a new state-of the art pathology laboratory, the Centre for Laboratory Medicine at which will accommodate cutting-edge equipment and specialist technologies to provide transformative pathology services.
There has been a phased approach to transferring pathology services from existing sites to enable a seamless service for our wider NHS partners with robust plans already in place to re-route patient samples safely and securely as required.
From 10 June please be aware that there are some changes to where some specimens should be sent, therefore please can you update your records.
Change of address for Blood Sciences and Specialist Coagulation, Block 31/32 Chancellor Wing, St James’ University Hospital
Please note that from Tuesday 10th June, any specimens which are currently sent to the following addresses:
- Blood Sciences, Block 31/32, 2nd Floor, Chancellor Wing, St James’s University Hospital, Leeds, LS9 7TF.
- Specialist Coagulation Laboratory, Specialist Laboratory Medicine, Block 31/32, Chancellor Wing, St James’ University Hospital, Leeds, LS9 7TF.
Will need to be updated to the below address:
Centre for Laboratory Medicine, St James’s University Hospital, Beckett Street, Leeds, LS9 7TF
While this transition phase takes place, all other pathology services will continue to operate as usual from existing locations. This includes Blood Sciences services delivered from the Old Medical School, Leeds General Infirmary, and if you currently send requests to this laboratory, the address remains unchanged.
Please also note that muscle and nerve specialist histology samples should be correctly addressed and sent to the department of Cellular Pathology, Bexley Wing, St James’s University Hospital, LS9 7TF.
Please drop off specimens at the correct locations to avoid delays in specimen processing:
