Adrenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH)

Pituitary hormone which stimulates cortisol production from the adrenal cortex. This is a second-line test for Cushing's investigation. Please consult the Endocrinology section before requesting this test.

Collection Con | Samples must be brought to the laboratory immediately and received for processing within 20 min of collection. Instructions for lab staff: centrifuge immediately, seperate and freeze plasma. Minimum volume: 500 uL plasma. If sending from an external Trust, please send samples on dry ice. |
