Creatinine

Measured as part of the U/E profile.
**PLEASE NOTE: THE REFERENCE RANGE FOR THIS TEST WAS CHANGED MONDAY OCTOBER 3RD 2011**

Tube 01 (SE) - Serum Gel
ID Tests&Tubes0041
Additional Information NB Creatinine is related to muscle mass so women and children tend to have lower levels than men. It is therefore important to remember that a frail old lady may have a creatinine within the reference range which is actually indicative of a problem. Creatinine levels are inversely related to the GFR and so there can be a considerable fall in the GFR before serum creatinine levels begin to rise.
