Troponin I (high sensitivity) is a cardiomyocyte-specific protein used in the detection of cardiac damage and associated risk assessment.

Additional Information The high-sensitivity assay is capable of detecting lower concentrations of Troponin I and, in patients with suspected low-risk ACS, can be used as a rule-out test (use in conjunction with ED pathway).
hs-TnI should NOT be measured in Primary Care - if a patient is suspected of having ACS/MI, they should be referred to Secondary Care immediately.
