Anti-liver/kidney/microsomal (LKM) antibodies are part of an autoantibody screen which includes gastric parietal cell antibodies, liver kidney microsomal antibodies and smooth muscle antibodies that can be detected using mouse liver, kidney and stomach muscle antibodies that can be detected using mouse liver, kidney and stomach multiblock slides.

Additional Information For all new patients with a positive LKM autoantibody or for patients with an atypical LKM Ab pattern the autoantibody specificity will be confirmed by the liver immunoblot screen. Anti-LKM antibodies are found in a approximately 90% of patients with autoimmune hepatitis but are also found in some patients with viral hepatitis.
