Additional Information The presence of significant levels of specific IgE antibodies to defined allergens in conjunction with a relevant clinical history is suggestive of IgE mediated allergy. However, the finding of a positive result does not indicate that any particular allergen is responsible for th patients symptoms. The significance of a result can only be interpreted in the context of a fully allergic history. More over, a negative result does not exclude the possibility of IgE involvement. In certain circumstances skin-prick testing may be necessary.
