Selective culture in patients with suspected Clostridium perfringens food poisoning. This test is not routinely carried out and so brief clinical and epidemiological information should be included from cases of suspected C.perfringens diarrhoea, particularly the date of the onset of symptoms

Additional Information Suspicious isolates will be referred to the reference laboratory for identification of enterotoxigenic C.perfringens by PCR. The stool sample may also be referred to the reference laboratory for detection of C.perfringens enterotoxin by ELISA
