Mercury (Urine)

Mercury (Urine)

Urine is the best matrix for assessing exposure to metallic and inorganic mercury although it may be prudent to send a concurrent blood sample. Urine mercury is measured when monitoring chelation therapy for mercury poisoning. Urine testing is not useful for assessing exposure to mercury from dental amalgam in fillings.
