Reasonable adjustments for children and young people with learning disability and/or autism
We would like to do all we can to prepare you and your child for their visit to Leeds Dental Institute or for their dental operation. We understand there may be some anxiety or sensory issues or triggers which could make a visit to the hospital distressing for you or your young person.
We work closely with the Trust learning disability and autism team, the play service, operating theatre and anaesthetic teams and can facilitate pre-visits to the departments, if this is helpful. We also operate a telephone reasonable adjustments clinic, and we aim to speak with families prior to your first appointment with us, or before your child’s operation, to see if there are any particular reasonable adjustments we can make to ensure your visit is as smooth and stress-free as possible.
If you haven’t had a reasonable adjustments telephone call and would like one, please call our booking team on 0113 343 5711
Learning disability and autism champions
We have a group of champions from different departments at the Leeds Dental Institute who advocate for patients and staff who are autistic or who have a learning disability.
