Inpatient
Our team provide assessment, advice and treatment for babies at risk of developmental delay who are inpatients on the Neonatal Unit here at the Leeds Children’s Hospital. Physiotherapists provide tailored positioning and handling advice alongside our Occupational Therapy colleagues. Children with musculoskeletal, neurological or genetic conditions may also be seen by the physiotherapy team.
We also have developmental for for children with complex needs on any of the wards, up to the age of 16 years.
Outpatient
we provide ongoing neurodevelopmental input for babies following discharge from the Neonatal Unit up to the age of two years. Babies from areas outside Leeds will be referred to their local therapy team as appropriate. Physiotherapists also provide input for the specialist baby massage groups held at the Child Development Centre at St James’ University Hospital. If appropriate the team can provide therapy in the home.
