Course Description
This short programme has been designed for dental nurses wanting to learn more about older person care and to support clinicians in treating older patients.
Aims
The aims are to discuss the aging process and management of older people in primary care, during domiciliary care, and in residential care.
Objectives
The programme will discuss and describe:
The aging process and age-related changes to oral health and the oral cavity.
Management of aging dentition including risk factors of oral disease, preventing disease, and treating older patients.
Domiciliary and residential care including visit planning and referrals to multi professional teams.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the programme, you will be able to apply knowledge and understanding to supporting an older patient population.
Applying
- Applicants must be GDC registered.
- Dental nurses must have access to a digital device (with camera and mic) and have internet connectivity.
- Registration with eLfH is required.
- Independent learning is required between sessions.
- Attendance to the programme constitutes 12 hours of verifiable CPD.
