Brief Introduction
The Certificate in Dental Sedation Nursing is a post registration Qualification awarded by the National Examining Board for Dental Nurses (NEBDN) aimed at registered dental nurses in specialist practice, where skills and knowledge above general dental nursing training would be advantageous in the workplace. This is a blended learning course which combines distance learning, practical teaching, self-study and awarding body examination.
Course Aim
To provide learners with the theoretical training and guidance to attain competence in Sedation Dental Nursing.
Qualification Information
Three options are offered to reflect individual areas of clinical practice:
- Certificate in Dental Sedation
- Nursing Award in Inhalation Sedation
- Dental Nursing Award in Intravenous Sedation Dental Nursing
- The difference is the number of learning hours although the level is the same. The Certificate is made up by achieving both Awards. Underpinning knowledge is the same syllabus across all areas and concludes in the same examination. The teaching sessions are the same for all students (there is not a different syllabus). The practical element is different for IV or Inhalation.
