This blended, online course aims to provide dental nurses with knowledge and understanding of the treatment of patients undergoing oral surgery.
Education will be delivered via MS Teams over 6 half day sessions.
Course Description
This short programme has been designed for dental nurses working within Oral Surgery settings and utilising skills to improve patient outcomes.
Aims
The aim is to discuss patient management during Oral surgery procedures.
Objectives
The programme will discuss and describe:
- The professional responsibilities and role of an Oral Surgery Dental Nurse.
- Knowledge and understanding of associated pain & anxiety control including application of topical anaesthetic and identify the responsibilities of the Oral Surgery dental nurse during suture removal. These topic areas require a workplace mentor or witness to observe, feedback and sign off a clinical reflective workbook.
- Effective behaviour management techniques appropriate to the needs of the individual.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the programme, you will be able to apply knowledge and understanding to support patients undergoing oral surgery procedures.
Applying
Applicants must be GDC registered.
Dental nurses must have access to a digital device (with camera and mic) and have internet connectivity.
Registration with eLfH is required.
Completion of a workplace mentored reflective Logbook is required to evidence competency.
Independent learning is required between sessions.
Attendance to the programme constitutes 18 hours of verifiable CPD.
