This is not the case. An apprentice at LTHT is simply an individual who is employed by the Trust, spends at least 20% of their time in off the job training, and receives academic instruction from a training provider. This means both new and existing staff can do apprenticeships at LTHT.
There are over 700 different types of apprenticeship. If staff are interested in an apprenticeship they should refer to the staff intranet page on apprenticeships or contact [email protected].
To search for an apprenticeship standard please visit the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education Apprenticeship Search Webpage.
How will I be supported?
As an apprentice you will receive support from your line manager and work team, your college tutor and the apprenticeship team. There is a lot of support, don’t be afraid to ask!
What is ‘Off the job training’?
Apprentices must by law receive 20% of their time in off the job training. This does not mean that the apprentice is out of the office 20% of the time. Off the job training is training that helps the apprentice to gain the new skills, knowledge, and experience that their programme requires them to have. For instance, if the apprentice needs to understand project management as part of their course the off the job training could include the apprentice simply being given a project to lead. For more information on Off the Job training please visit our intranet page.
