The Leeds Paediatric Rheumatology team sees children and young people from North and West Yorkshire, as well as parts of South Yorkshire. Referrals to the team can be made via your GP or hospital doctor. At present we are not linked to the 'Choose and Book' system.
What we do
We look after children and young people until they leave secondary education, with transition to adult rheumatology care taking place between 16 and 18 years, as appropriate.
Usually new referrals for young people after their 16th birthday are advised to go directly to an adult rheumatology team.
The main conditions we manage as a team are:
- Arthritis (most commonly Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis)
- Rarer inflammatory conditions eg systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), juvenile dermatomyositis, scleroderma, vasculitis, non-infectious uveitis, periodic fevers, sarcoidosis
- Benign joint hypermobility syndrome
- Back pain
