The Department of Anaesthesia provides a modern anaesthetic service to all specialties across the Trust.

Our objectives are to provide a high quality anaesthetic service to all patients.

The service continually adapts, addressing and adopting new techniques in order to meet our patients' needs. Many new techniques are being pioneered within the department. All aspects of the service are consultant led, and we can offer a service for many medical and surgical treatments not available elsewhere in the region.

These sections gives basic information to help you prepare for your anaesthetic. Much of this information is written by the Royal College of Anaesthetists. We also include links to other information written by other anaesthetic organisations specialising in different areas. They may also be available from the anaesthetic department in your hospital.
