Adolescent Gender Identity Endocrine Service (North)

Allergy service

Over the past 30 years, there has been a dramatic rise in the number of children suffering from food allergies, hayfever, asthma and eczema.

Anaesthesia

The Paediatric Anaesthetic department at Leeds Children’s Hospital provides anaesthesia and pain relief services for children and young people from birth to adolescence.

Asthma Service

We provide care for children with difficult to treat asthma. We accept referrals for children aged 0 to 16 years of age from Leeds and further afield.

Blood Testing

Blood tests are requested by the healthcare professionals responsible for your care. The cells and molecules in your blood sample are analysed in the lab, and the results are used to screen for, diagnose or monitor health conditions.

Children and Teenage Oncology and Haematology

Working as a combined oncology (cancer) and haematology (blood disorder) service, we deliver a complete package of care from diagnosis through to long term follow-up into adult life.

Children and Young People’s Diabetes

As one of the largest paediatric diabetes services in the UK, our specialist team takes care of over 500 young patients, from diagnosis through long-term follow-up to achieve the best long-term health outcomes.

Children’s Assessment and Treatment Unit

The CAT Unit is where acutely unwell children (up to 16 years of age) are assessed and treated by the paediatric team before they are either discharged home or admitted to an in-patient ward. You're likely to come to the CAT Unit if you are referred by your GP, other health care professionals or the children’s emergency department.

Cleft Lip and Palate Service

Complications of Excess Weight (CEW)

The newly formed Children’s Complications of Excess Weight (CEW) service is located in Leeds and covers the whole of the West Yorkshire region. The service aims to support children, young people and their families who are struggling to achieve a healthy weight.

Cystic Fibrosis

We cover a large geographical area across West, North, and East Yorkshire. Some families who live outside of this area also choose to travel to have care at Leeds Children's Hospital.

Dermatology

The Leeds Paediatric Dermatology Team see children and young people aged 0-18 with a range of Dermatological Conditions from Leeds and the wider region of North and West Yorkshire. 

Dietetics

Here at Leeds Children’s Hospital, the Children’s Dietetic Team provides support for children and young people who have conditions that require dietary management to maintain growth and improve their overall quality of life.

Emergency Department

Welcome to the Paediatric Emergency Department at Leeds Children's Hospital. As a major trauma centre we see children and young people with a wide range of medical illnesses and injuries.

Endocrinology

The Yorkshire Centre for Paediatric & Adolescent Endocrinology Service is based at Leeds Children’s Hospital and provides a comprehensive service for children and teenagers with disorders of the endocrine glands.

Gastroenterology

The Gastroenterology and Nutrition Service sees children from Leeds and around Yorkshire with a wide range of disorders including: vomiting, abdominal pain, gastroesophageal reflux, gut dysmotility, coeliac disease, diarrhoea, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, intestinal failure, feeding difficulties and poor growth.

General Surgery

The General Paediatric Surgery and Urology Service at Leeds Children's Hospital offers a range of procedures for children in Leeds and across Yorkshire including including: lower gastrointestinal, neonatal, oncology, liver, colorectal and thoracic surgery.

Healthier at Home – Virtual Ward

The Healthier at Home virtual ward is an exciting new service operating within Leeds Children’s Hospital designed to support parents and carers care for their child at home.

Neonatal Services

The Leeds Centre for Newborn Care is one of the largest neonatal services in the UK. We provide specialist care to around 1,600 newborn babies each year, many of whom need intensive care or surgery. We care for babies from the whole of the Yorkshire region and beyond.

Nephrology

The Children's Nephrology department at Leeds Children's Hospital comprises a large multidisciplinary team offering treatment to children and young people with kidney disease and urinary tract problems. Through our network we provide a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient services for children and young people across the Yorkshire and Humber regions.

Neurosciences

Care is provided by an integrated team of specialist Paediatric Neurologists, Paediatric Neurosurgeons, a Paediatric Neuro-rehabilitation Consultant, Psychologists and Allied Health Professionals.

Occupational Therapy

Young people are active and creative individuals however often face challenges as a result of illness or disability. Our Occupational Therapy Service aims to restore their potential to participate in daily tasks by regaining lost skills or developing new ones.

Paediatric Critical Care (Paediatric Intensive Care Unit – PICU)

Children's Critical Care (also known as Paediatric Intensive Care or PICU) at Leeds Children's Hospital is one of the largest paediatric critical care units in the UK.

Paediatric Dentistry

The Paediatric Dentistry department see and treat children and young people, up to 15 years of age, whose dental condition can’t be managed at the family or community dentist.

Paediatric Rheumatology

The Leeds Paediatric Rheumatology team see children and young people with persistent musculo-skeletal concerns from North and West Yorkshire, as well as parts of South Yorkshire.

Respiratory Service

The Children's Respiratory Service is a state of the art tertiary service for the multidisciplinary care for a range of conditions including congenital lung abnormalities, bronchiectasis, immunodeficiency, severe asthma, dysfunctional breathing, rare lung diseases (e.g. interstitial lung disease), chronic lung disease of prematurity, sleep-disordered breathing and long term ventilation.

Speech and Language Therapy

Welcome to Children’s Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) service. We primarily provide an acute speech and language therapy service to paediatric inpatients at Leeds Children’s Hospital.

Youth service

We provide emotional, psychosocial and practical support for young people aged 13 to 25 years. We work with both inpatients (in hospital) and outpatients (at home and in the community).
